ADHESIVES FOR EXPANSION JOINTS
PRODUCT OVERVIEW
Bond Materials product EAC10-6 is an Epoxy asphalt cold-mix compound containing
pre-blended mixtures of epoxy asphalt resins and aggregates for filling and repairing expansion joints. The finished
products are loose solid particles packed in bags. For repair work, the
compound is mixed with a “hardener-like” cement and water. The mixed compound
is then poured into the expansion joint and compressed with a paving machine to
produce a smooth, solid finish. After curing, the epoxy asphalt will become a
polymer concrete. Epoxy asphalt cold mix compounds are high quality filling
materials for expansion join, potholes
etc in concrete pavements including epoxy asphalt polymer concrete and
cementitious concrete.
APPLICATIONS
For all types of large buildings and structures, a certain gap will be reserved between some joining parts to form the expansion joints。 This is to allow thermal expansion and contraction without damaging the structure. The gap must be filled with some materials with good adhesion and elasticity to overcome the extrusion force caused by the deformation of the structure under the change of temperature. EAC 10-6 is a fast curing compounded product ideally for instant filling and repair expansion joints. The product is easy to apply and requires short maintenance time. The product has following features:
- Cold mix (A & B components) with fast curing at ambient temperature, open traffic within 4 to 6 hours.
- After fully cured, the compound is a highly durable polymer concrete.
- Excellent product for instant filling & repairs of expansion joints and damaged areas on airport runways, polymer concrete pavements for cracked concrete road surfaces and potholes on steel bridges, freeways.

APPLICATION GUIDE
1. Cleaning: Remove debris and dirt from the area to be patched. Clean surfaces thoroughly .
2. Applying Primer: Apply the epoxy asphalt primer on to the surface area to be repaired. The purpose is for water proofing and increasing its adhesion to the patching compounds.
3. Mixing: Mix thoroughly component A, the cold patching compound with curing agents.
4. Spreading: Spread the blended compound into the repair area within one hour
5. Compacting: When the material is half-cured (1 to 1.5 hour after spreading,use a compactor to compress to a solid flat surface.
6. Curing: Allow 4 to 6 hours of curing time before open to traffic.
